Roberto Barni Italian, b. 1939
In 1960 he began to exhibit in Pistoia and Florence, painting, photography, casts, sculptures, topographies which he also presented in Rome in 1963, where he met Cesare Vivaldi, who in 1965 invited him to Revort/1, an exhibition organized as part of the 'Group 63' festival in Palermo.
From 1966 to 1973 he exhibited at the Zoom Studio in Pistoia, at Flori in Florence, at the Selected Artist Galleries in New York, at Van de Loo in Monaco, at Charles Lienhard in Basel.
From 1974 to 1978 he exhibited at the “XXVIII” Biennale of Milan, again at the Galleria Flori in Florence, at the Galleria La Salita in Rome and at the Galleria Schema in Florence, from Trisorio in Naples and at the Galleria Borgogna in Milan.
In 1977 he also participated in the exhibition on Italian art at the Gallery of Modern Art in Turin.
In 1979 he exhibited in Rome at the Galleria La Salita and later at Pio Monti and Cleto Polcina.
In 1982 Giovanni Carandente curated his exhibition in the Municipality of Spoleto, as part of the Festival dei due Mondi.
In 1983 he was invited to the Casa Masaccio in San Giovanni and in 1984 by Maurizio Calvesi to the Venice Biennale.
In 1985 there were exhibitions at the 'Sala d'Arme' of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, at the Eolia Gallery in Paris, at the Gallery of Modern Art in Bologna, and at the Debora Scharpe Gallery in New York.
From 1986 to 1987 he had a studio in New York where he exhibited at the Galleria Di Laurenti with an exhibition curated by Sam Hunter, with the Galleria Marisa Del Re and in 1987 at the “Queens Museum” with a solo exhibition curated by Jhon Yau.
In 1985 Howard Fox invited him to the exhibition on Italian art held at the Hirschhorn Museum in Washington and Akron Museum in Ohio and in 1987 to “Avant.Garde in the Eighties” at the County Museum in Los Angeles.
The exhibition on Italian art at the Seibu Museum in Tokyo dates back to 1986.
In 1988 there were solo exhibitions at the Galeria Maeght in Paris and at the Galleria Il Milione in Milan and above all the participation in the Venice Biennale with the first version of the sculpture "Atto Muto" positioned right at the entrance to the Central Pavilion. The same year saw exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and at the Tate Gallery in London.
In 1989 he participated in the exhibition-event of the Palais de Tokyo.
In 1990 he was in the exhibition on the eighties in the former convent of San Francesco in Sciacca, curated by Philippe Daverio.
In 1992 Janus curated his solo show at the “Tour Fromage” in Aosta; in 1994 Giovanni Carandente the one at the Marino Marini Museum in Florence and in 1995 Gerard Georges Lemaire the one at Fort Griffon in Besançon.
Personal exhibitions took place in 1997 at Palazzo Fabroni in Pistoia, at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest and in 1999 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Reims.
In these years he began to work continuously with the Alessandro Bagnai Gallery, which organized the personal exhibitions “Where not to put hands or feet” (2001) and “Figures of passage” (2003) in its spaces in Siena and Florence.
In 2002 it was present at the Kunsverein Ludwigsburg curated by Agnes Kholmayer.
In 2005 at the Scaligero Castle in Malcesine, at the Raab Gallery in Berlin and at the Luis Serpa Gallery in Lisbon and at the Teatro India Roma with the exhibition entitled “Scherzo” curated by Demetrio Paparoni
In 2007 at Palazzo Pitti, Boboli Gardens, Le Pagliere di Palazzo Reale and the Archaeological Museum of Florence, under the care of Alberto Boatto, the great project “Gambe in shoulder” thanks to the support of the Alessandro Bagnai Gallery.
In 2008 at Palazzo Forti in Verona “Fermi tutti” curated by Giorgio Cortenova and between 2008 and 2009 at the Mudima Foundation in Milan “Condominio clandestino” with texts and catalog by Achille Bonito Oliva and Lorand Hegyi; in 2010 at the Contemporary Art Center “La Malmaison” and Villa Rothschild in Cannes curated by Frederic Ballester; in 2011-2012 at the Cobra Museum in Amsterdam with Karel Appel curated by Werner Van Den Belt.
In 2013 there was an exhibition at the Marlborough Gallery in Munich with a text by Oliveer Kaeppelin and at the Marlborough Gallery in Madrid.
In 2015 at the complex of the Ex Monastero San Maurizio di Santo Stefano, Gallo Foundation, in collaboration with the Piedmont Region.
Lorand Hegyi curates a series of exhibitions in museum spaces in China between 2015 and 2016.
In May 2017 he presented the “Controversie” project at the State Archives of Venice, consisting of the presentation of four monumental bronze sculptures.
